GE Vernova to supply turbines for Gurbanesti wind farm in Romania

GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Greenvolt Power, part of Greenvolt Group, to supply, install and commission 42 of its 6.1 MW–158 metre onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași county, Romania. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026.
Van Oord completes monopile installation at Windanker offshore wind farm

Van Oord has completed the transport and installation of all 21 monopiles for Iberdrola’s Windanker offshore wind farm. The work included loading the monopiles at the fabrication site in Spain and transporting them to the Port of Rønne, Denmark. Manufactured by a joint venture between Navantia and Windar, the monopiles measure 10 metres in diameter, 70.6 to 86.6 metres in length, and weigh up to 2,145 tonnes. From the port, they were lifted with MTC cranes and towed by two tugs to the installation vessel Svanen.
Federal regulators seek reconsideration of New England Wind project approval

Federal regulators have filed a motion asking a court to remand the approval of the New England Wind construction plan back to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) for reconsideration. Submitted on 2 December 2025 by the U.S. Department of Justice on BOEM’s behalf, the filing signals a potential review of the offshore wind project’s prior authorisation.
Bernard Byrne to succeed Rónán Murphy as Chair of Greencoat Renewables

Greencoat Renewables has announced that Rónán Murphy, Chair and Non-Executive Director since the Company’s 2017 IPO, will retire at the conclusion of the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 7 May 2026. Following a selection process led by the Nomination Committee, Bernard Byrne has been appointed Chair Designate and will succeed Rónán Murphy at the AGM. Bernard has served as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Management Engagement Committee since May 2025.
Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm begins feeding power to German grid

The Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm, jointly owned by Ørsted and Nuveen Infrastructure, delivered its first electricity to the German grid on 3 December 2025. Full commissioning of the 913 MW wind farm is expected in the first quarter of 2026.
Shantou Declaration from WWEC2025 on international cooperation in wind energy

Ten years after the Paris Agreement, deployment of renewable energy has increased, with wind power playing a major role. RWE and TotalEnergies plan nature-inclusive reef structures at the OranjeWind wind farm

RWE and TotalEnergies have signed an agreement with ARC Marine for the supply of 66 Reef Cubes at part of the future OranjeWind offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea. Installation of the foundations will begin in 2026, and once construction is complete the 66 Reef Cubes will be placed at 11 turbine foundations. In total, the deployment will create 1,440 square metres of surface habitat.
World Wind Energy Award recognises contributions to China’s wind sector
