Greencoat Renewables has announced that Rónán Murphy, Chair and Non-Executive Director since the Company’s 2017 IPO, will retire at the conclusion of the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 7 May 2026. Following a selection process led by the Nomination Committee, Bernard Byrne has been appointed Chair Designate and will succeed Rónán Murphy at the AGM. Bernard has served as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Management Engagement Committee since May 2025.
Bernard brings extensive finance and commercial experience, having led high-growth public, private and semi-state organisations. He was most recently CEO of Davy, Ireland’s largest provider of wealth management and investment banking services. Previously, he served as CEO of AIB Group plc, overseeing its 2017 IPO, and held senior roles at ESB, IWP International plc, and ESB International. He currently chairs Cairn Homes plc, a listed Irish housebuilder.
Greencoat Renewables invests in euro-denominated renewable energy infrastructure, initially focusing on operating wind farms in Ireland, and now extending to wind and solar assets in other European countries.
