Great British Energy has introduced a programme intended to strengthen domestic supply chains for clean energy technologies and support long-term sector development. The £1 billion Energy Engineered in the UK initiative is designed to draw in public and private investment and address constraints in manufacturing capacity.

As part of the initiative, the organisation has opened the £300 million GBE Supply Chain Fund: Offshore Wind & Networks, which will focus on components such as blades, turbines, transmission cables, and converter stations. The fund aims to expand UK manufacturing capability in these areas.

The programme forms part of the UK Government’s wider industrial strategy, which sets out a ten-year approach to encouraging investment and skills. Great British Energy will work with the National Wealth Fund, Scottish National Infrastructure Bank, and The Crown Estate to support finance for large-scale manufacturing projects.

A Deepwater Wind Commercialisation Programme will also be created in partnership with Flowex to coordinate work on future offshore wind development.
