The US Department of Commerce has begun a national security investigation into imports of wind turbines and their components. The inquiry was initiated on 13 August 2025 under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
The Bureau of Industry and Security is seeking public comments, with submissions due within 15 days of the notice’s publication in the Federal Register on 25 August 2025.
The Department is requesting input on issues including US demand, domestic production capacity, foreign supply chains, subsidies, pricing practices, and potential security risks. Business confidential information must be clearly identified and accompanied by a public version.
