Draftec has commissioned a new Oval Loading Arm following a period of development and testing. The system is designed for coiling subsea power cables into both round and oval basket configurations and can accommodate cable diameters of up to 400 millimetres with linear weights of up to 90 kilograms per metre.
The loading arm features a modular and foldable design that allows it to be integrated within standard 10 feet, 20 feet and 40 feet container footprints. This approach supports transport between project locations and simplifies logistics during mobilisation.
During operation, the Oval Loading Arm provides controlled cable handling intended to improve stability during coiling activities. The system is designed to limit manual handling and support more orderly deck operations when loading subsea power cables.
