IQIP has secured a contract from Deme for the Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind farms in the German North Sea. The two sites form the Nordlicht cluster, developed by Vattenfall. IQIP will supply its Hydrohammer IQ6 hydraulic hammer combined with Pulse noise mitigation technology.
Pulse uses a dual-piston system and a fluid-filled chamber to reduce underwater noise at the source, supporting marine protection. The system’s modular design enables integration with additional mitigation technologies.
Deme is responsible for installing 112 monopiles and transition pieces and has also been contracted to carry out scour protection.
Located around 85 kilometres north of Borkum, Nordlicht 1 is planned at approximately 980 MW and Nordlicht 2 at 630 MW. Together, they are expected to produce around 6 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity annually. Construction will begin in 2026, with full operations planned for 2028.
