Orlen’s Baltic East offshore wind project has won an auction organised by the President of the Polish Energy Regulatory Office. The project submitted a bid of 476.88 zł/MWh, below the maximum price set in the regulation of the Minister of Climate and Environment.
As a result of the auction outcome, Baltic East will be covered by a support scheme based on a two-way contract for difference. The mechanism is designed to provide predictable revenues and stable operating conditions for up to 25 years. It includes compensation for any negative balance, defined as the difference between the market electricity price and the auction strike price.
In addition, Baltic East has secured access to preferential debt financing under Poland’s National Recovery Plan to support construction activities in marine areas. The final investment decision is planned for 2029–2030. First electricity generation from the Baltic East offshore wind farm is expected in 2032.
