GE Vernova has been awarded a contract by Adani Energy Solutions to deliver high-voltage direct current transmission technology for the 2.5 GW Khavda–South Olpad renewable power corridor in India. The project will support the transfer of large volumes of renewable electricity from western India into the national transmission network.

The Khavda–South Olpad corridor is intended to act as a core transmission link for India’s expanding renewable energy capacity. Khavda, located in the Kutch region of Gujarat, is being developed as a large-scale renewable energy zone, while South Olpad will function as a key pooling and grid injection point.

Under the contract, GE Vernova will supply a ±500 kilovolt, 2,500 MW voltage sourced converter-based bipolar high-voltage direct current system, configured as a point-to-point link. The scope of work includes overall system design, converter stations at both ends of the corridor and the supply of major converter station equipment.

GE Vernova will also be responsible for erection, testing and commissioning of the system, excluding civil works. Most of the project execution will be carried out by teams based in India, with delivery planned in phases. Full completion of the transmission corridor is targeted by 2030.
