Iberdrola and Microsoft have expanded their partnership with two long-term power purchase agreements in Spain, adding 150 MW of contracted capacity. The agreements cover electricity from the Iglesias wind farm in Burgos and the El Escudo wind farm in Cantabria, both in northern Spain.
The partnership also includes the broader deployment of Microsoft’s Azure Cloud and AI computing platform, Microsoft Copilot, and security and compliance solutions, aimed at modernising Iberdrola’s digital capabilities and supporting the use of artificial intelligence across the Group.
These new agreements complement three existing PPAs in the United States signed between 2021 and 2025 through Avangrid, Iberdrola’s US subsidiary, covering Powell Creek Solar in Ohio, Camino Solar in California, and Juniper Canyon wind farm in Washington. Together, Iberdrola and Microsoft now have around 500 MW of contracted capacity across Europe and the US.
The collaboration will also explore renewable energy supply, waste heat networks in Spain, carbon credits, and energy technology innovations including hydrogen, battery storage, and related technologies with Iberdrola and its affiliates in Europe, the US, Brazil, and Australia.
