Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy has signed a contract with Kajima Corporation for the manufacturing, procurement, transportation, and installation of offshore wind turbine foundations for its project off the coast of Akita Prefecture, Japan.
Kajima Corporation will undertake the core foundation works, drawing on its technical expertise and experience in large-scale marine construction. The offshore wind farm will comprise 21 Vestas V236-15MW turbines, with a total capacity of 315 MW, located off Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City. It is Japan’s first offshore wind development implemented under the Act on Promoting the Utilisation of Sea Areas for Renewable Energy, with commercial operation planned to begin in June 2028. Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy is a joint venture between Jera Nex, bp Japan, Electric Power Development, Tohoku Electric Power, and Itochu.
