Meteodyn has introduced its Wind Data Portal, a platform that allows wind energy professionals to access high-resolution, geolocated wind data for projects worldwide, both onshore and offshore. The portal offers tools to support early-stage project planning and optimisation, drawing on virtual and satellite observations, met masts, climate analytics, and meso-microscale modelling.
Three products are currently available:
1. Met Masts – Time series of wind speed and direction data globally, with two levels:
- Advanced: High-resolution reanalysis data with spatial interpolation and vertical extrapolation, horizontal resolution 3–11 km depending on region.
- Premium: Onshore data downscaled to 50 m using computational fluid dynamics for detailed site-level wind representation; offshore data at 500 m resolution derived from SARWind satellite observations, validated for offshore conditions.
2. Climate Change Analytics (CCA) – Projections of wind speed and annual energy production under IPCC climate scenarios, helping assess climate risks and inform resilient investment decisions. Horizontal resolution ranges from 11–44 km depending on region.
3. Meso-Microscale Coupling (MMC) – Integration of mesoscale data into Meteodyn WT software for combined meso- and microscale modelling, with mesoscale data provided at 3 km horizontal resolution.
