Uudenkaupungin Työvene has delivered the MCS SWATH 3, a crew transfer vessel (CTV) built on Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) technology, to Maritime Craft Services (Clyde). It is the first of three units under construction. Designed for offshore wind operations, the SWATH hull form reduces vessel motion in rough seas, improving stability, ride comfort and safety during transfers.
The design was developed in cooperation with Ad Hoc Marine Designs and builds on Maritime Craft Services’ operational experience with two earlier vessels of similar type.
Key features include:
- SWATH design for improved seakeeping and safer transfers
- Power Take-In on each drivetrain to enable hybrid operation
- Advanced navigation and redundancy systems
- Optimised boarding arrangements for offshore access
- Noise-reduction measures for improved comfort
The vessel will be deployed in the North Sea offshore wind sector.
